In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have modified arrangements for the City Nature Challenge to help keep everyone safe. Most importantly, this year’s CNC is no longer a competition. This will allow people to safely document biodiversity in whatever way they can, even from the safety of their own homes if necessary. For more details, please refer to the main CNC website:
Alongside citizens from over 250 cities, all you need to do is photograph nature (plants, insects, birds, fungi, etc) on the free app, iNaturalist, from 24-27 April. This is a fantastic way to educate yourselves on the amazing biodiversity that is on your own doorstep. This can be done anywhere in Hong Kong yet we urge all participants to carefully follow public health guidelines as individual safety and public health are the utmost priority.
WWF-Hong Kong has incorporated the City Nature Challenge into fun, interactive and informative activities at Mai Po Nature Reserve (please note that these activities are under constant review and details could change depending on further government guidelines).
City Nature Challenge is organised by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the California Academy of Sciences.
